Guided Walk (Northern Reaches Ramble)
Date and Time : Thursday 17 May 2007, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Description :
Northern Reaches – Kendal to Sedgwick, 7 mile walk along the old route of the Lancaster Canal.

Meeting place at Kay shoes overflow car park just off Parkside Road, Kendal. Please note that there are no public toilets at this meeting place, or along the walk.
Easy flat walking along old towpath and through fields, must be capable of walking 7 miles and across uneven ground.

Guided Walk (Northern Reaches Ramble)
Date and Time : Thursday 31 May 2007, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Description :
Northern Reaches – Tewitfield to Holme, 8 mile walk along the old route of the Lancaster Canal, also showing you Tewitfield locks.

Meeting place at Tewitfield, by the waterbus stop. There are toilet facilities at this meeting place, but not along the walk.
Moderate walking along old route. There is a steep hill to climb past the old locks at the beginning of the walk, otherwise the walk is flat and easy going.

Guided Bike Tour (National Bike Week)
Date and Time : Tuesday 19 June 2007, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Description :
Garstang to Galgate – 15 mile bike ride along flat towpath.
Meeting place at Garstang Discovery Centre (Tourist Information Office) - toilet facilities available in car park, but not during the ride
Easy flat bike ride taking in the scenery of the Lancaster Canal and surrounding countryside, including the Bowland Fells. At the beginning and end of the bike ride there will be a small section of road cycling.

Guided Bike Tour (National Bike Week)
Date and Time : Saturday 23 June 2007, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Description :
Galgate to Glasson via Aldcliffe (along cycle track from Glasson to Aldcliffe), Lancaster and Galgate – 13 mile bike ride along towpath and cycle track.
Meeting place at Galgate Marina car park – toilet facilities available at Galgate, Glasson and Lancaster.
Easy flat bike ride taking in the scenery of the Lancaster Canal, Glasson Dock and the River Lune (Lancashire Coastal Way).

Description :
Garstang to Bilsborrow – 10 mile walk taking in the scenery of the Lancaster Canal and Bowland Fells.
Meeting place at Garstang Discovery Centre (Tourist Information Office) - toilet facilities available in car park and at Bilsborrow.
Easy flat walking, must be capable of walking 10 miles.

Northern Reaches - Crooklands to Sedgwick, 8 mile walk taking in the scenery of the old route of the Lancaster Canal, including Stainton, Hincaster Tunnel and Sedgwick Aqueduct.
Meeting place at Crooklands on the canal opposite the Waterwitch narrow boat - Please note that there are no public toilets at this meeting place, or along the walk. Parking and toilet facilities may be available at the Crooklands Hotel.
Easy flat walking along old towpath and through fields, must be capable of walking 8 miles and across uneven ground.

Please Note:

For all guided walks, good strong footwear is essential, preferably walking boots. Outdoor clothing required and waterproofs desirable, also packed lunch and water required. If you bring dogs, please can you keep them on leads at all times.

For all guided bike tours, British Waterways cannot hire out bikes for the tours, so please can all riders bring their own bikes, which must be in good condition for the tour. Please can all riders also bring their own cycle helmets which would have to be worn throughout the ride. Outdoor clothing required and waterproofs desirable, also packed lunch and water required. In addition, bike spares such as inner tube, puncture repair kit and tyre pump are highly recommended.
