Canal Head Masterplan
Date : 17/10/2006
British Waterways

British Waterways held an exhibition on 21 September 2006 to display a range of development options for the Kendal Canal Head Masterplan. Interested residents of South Lakeland and others attended the display at Kendal Town Hall to look and comment on the four options that had be produced by masterplanners Arup/EDAW.

British Waterways Project Manager for the project said “We have had a lot of people with a lot of questions such as when is it going to happen and what are the benefits going to be for Kendal. By and large, it has been very positive and interesting to get peoples thoughts. We will take all comments back to South Lakeland District Council as they are the ones who will make that final decision at the end of the day, and will then develop the preferred option which may consist of the best bits from the four options on show to deliver the greatest benefit for Kendal and the canal”.

The four options range from a very small development with no canal, to a vibrant mix of cafes, restaurants, hotels, housing and industry. To view the options, please press on links right and if you have any comments about any of the options then please email info@thenorthernreaches.co.uk .
