KENDAL CANAL HEAD AREA ACTION PLAN
CONSULTATION ON ISSUES AND OPTIONS REPORT (Reg 25)
South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) is
preparing a Kendal Canal Head Area Action Plan (AAP), which will
form part of the South Lakeland Local Development Framework (LDF).
The AAP will provide a planning framework for
the regeneration of an area of Kendal between Canal Head and Change
Bridge off Parkside Road, including the potential restoration of a
section of the former Lancaster Canal. The AAP has developed from
earlier work between the District Council, the North West
Development Agency and the Lancaster Canal Restoration Partnership –
including British Waterways, which has assisted with this
consultation. |

SLDC are now seeking your views on the AAP Issues and Options
Report by noon on Friday 13 July 2007. The results of the
consultation will inform later stages of the development of the AAP, the
timetable for which is set out in the Council’s Local Development Scheme.
The Issues and Options Report and comment form can be viewed
and downloaded from the Council’s website
www.southlakeland.gov.uk/ldf where a
Baseline Report is also available for information. SLDC would particularly
welcome your comments using the online comment form, accessed via the
website. This will give you, or remind you of, your username and password if
necessary. You may also return the comment form by email to
developmentplans@southlakeland.gov.uk
or by post to the above address.
The Issues and Options report and comment forms are also
available for inspection at South Lakeland House in Kendal, Ulverston Town
Hall, and at libraries in Kendal, Ulverston, Arnside, Grange over Sands,
Kirkby Lonsdale and Milnthorpe.
A public exhibition will be held in Kendal Town Hall on
Tuesday 19 June 2007 between 12 noon and 8pm, with two presentations at 4pm
and 6.30pm. The display will also be on view at the following locations in
Kendal:
- South Lakeland House between 4 June and 15 June 2007,
- Westmorland Shopping Centre between 18 June and 29
June 2007,
- Kendal Library between 2 July and 13 July 2007.
